Kartavya (2026): Cast, Story, Release Date & Where to Watch
Kartavya is a Hindi crime drama about a police officer caught between professional duty, personal conscience and the safety of his family. Netflix released the film on May 15, 2026.
What is Kartavya about?
Saif Ali Khan plays Pawan, a police officer under intense scrutiny after failing to protect a journalist who is shot while under his watch. As pressure increases, Pawan has to deal with threats while trying to protect his family. The film places the idea of duty at the centre of the story. The question is not simply whether a police officer can do his job. It is what happens when doing that job begins to put the people closest to him at risk.

What is the central conflict?
The title itself is the key idea. Kartavya means duty, but the film places duty in conflict with personal responsibility. Pawan is not operating in a world where every decision has an obvious answer. The more pressure he faces, the harder it becomes to separate professional obligation from the consequences for his family.
That creates the basis for a character-driven crime drama rather than a straightforward police action movie. A viewing-based review should ultimately examine how well the film handles that moral tension.
