Karuppu (2026): Story, Cast, Languages & Where to Watch
Karuppu combines courtroom drama, fantasy, mythology and mainstream action. The film stars Suriya as Vettai Karuppu.
What is Karuppu about?
Vettai Karuppu is a guardian deity who appears in human form as a lawyer. He becomes involved in a fight against corruption within a legal system that exploits ordinary people. That gives the movie an unusual central concept. The protagonist belongs to a mythological world, but his battle plays out through the modern institution of the courtroom.

- Indrans
Director
Karuppu is directed by RJ Balaji. It is produced by S. R. Prakashbabu and S. R. Prabhu under Dream Warrior Pictures. Music is composed by Sai Abhyankkar.
Where can you watch Karuppu?
The film is streaming exclusively on Prime Video. The original language is Tamil. Dubbed versions are available in Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada, while the Telugu version is listed as Veerabhadrudu.
What kind of movie is it?
Prime Video describes it as a fantasy action drama. The courtroom setting gives the story a different structure from a conventional mythology-driven action film. The central conflict is about justice and corruption, but the protagonist approaches those ideas through both legal and supernatural means.
Why the premise stands out
The combination of a guardian deity and a lawyer is unusual enough to be the film’s defining feature. Instead of separating mythology from contemporary social issues, Karuppu places them in the same story. Whether those elements complement each other is a question for the viewing experience.
