Peter Cat, Kolkata
My review of Peter Cat in Kolkata — once brilliant in my memory, but now a more average experience despite the enduring hype.

Peter Cat, Kolkata Review
My Take
Peter Cat is one of those Kolkata restaurants where the reputation is almost bigger than the restaurant itself. I remember it as a brilliant place, which makes the current experience a little disappointing. The restaurant still carries enormous name recognition and the familiar hype around it, but for me the food is now much more average.
That doesn’t mean the place has become terrible. It means the gap between what I remember and what I experienced now is noticeable. The nostalgia is still part of the appeal. People continue to come because Peter Cat is Peter Cat, and I can understand that. But if I’m judging the restaurant purely on the experience I had rather than its history, I can’t justify a very high rating.
The enduring reputation is understandable, but my current experience was simply passable.
What Stood Out
Peter Cat still has the name and nostalgia, but my recent experience didn’t match the legendary reputation I remember.
Who Should Go
Visitors interested in Kolkata’s iconic food history and diners who specifically want to experience the famous restaurant for themselves.
Verdict
3/5 — Once brilliant, now average in my experience. The hype is still there, but the food didn’t live up to the memory.
